Frequently Asked Questions
How do SmellsAway
Pads work?
SmellsAway pads are constructed of activated carbon fibre, a highly porous
substance which literally sucks the smells from the air and captures them
in its surface.
Are SmellsAway
pads only suitable for use in wheelie bins?
No! SmellsAway pads can be used in any bin, including kitchen household bins,
food bins, garden waste bins, compost caddys and commercial skips.
What size &
shape are the SmellsAway pads?
The pads are 25cm square but can be easily cut down to fit smaller bins using
a pair of kitchen scissors.
How long will
a pad work for?
The pad will keep the bin fresh for up to 4 weeks and will then need reactivating.
We recommend that the pad is replaced after the third reactivation in order
to maintain maximum effectiveness.
How do I reactivate
the pad?
The carbon fibre pad is reactivated by sunlight. Simply leave it exposed to
the sun for 2 - 3 hours by leaving the bin lid open.
How long does
it take to reactivate the pad?
Approximately 2 - 3 hours.
How many times
can the pad be reactivated?
We recommend that the pad is reactivated up to 3 times. The active carbon
fibre will become less effective after the third reactivation.
How do I dispose of the pad?
The pad is inert and can be disposed of with your normal household waste without
affecting the environment.
